The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto is the place to go if you want to renew your passport, among other consular services.
You have to be physically present at the consular office because they will take your fingerprints and picture, or what they call the biometric data capture, so you don’t have to bring passport photos. Also, you don’t have to make an appointment, meaning you can come anytime between 9 am and 4 pm from Monday to Friday. Be mindful of public holidays, though, both here and the Philippines.
Here’s the general requirements.
Note: Please come in proper business attire (with collar and sleeves).
A. Latest passport with photocopy of the data page (page showing photo & complete name)
B. Duly accomplished passport application form. (Download it here.)
I suggest you fill it up on the computer, not only it’s easier but cleaner, too.
C. Original and photocopy of one of the following (whichever is applicable):
- Valid Permanent Resident Card/Work Permit
- Dual Citizenship Certificate (Order of Approval/Identification Certificate/Oath of Allegiance)
- Valid Confirmation of Permanent Residency, or
- Valid Tourist Visa to Canada
Don’t forget your fee $81.00. They accept cash, money order or debit.
If the applicant is a minor, they should be accompanied by either one of the parents.
For illegitimate children, they must be accompanied by the mother. There’s a separate form for minor applicants.
Make sure that you have all the requirements before going to the PCG, because you will save lots of time and avoid unnecessary hassle.
So, when you get to the PCG, the first thing you need to get is a cue number. You will notice there are windows there with corresponding names, such as Data encoding, payment, releasing, etc.
Wait for your number to be called. The process is pretty easy, all you have to do is be patient, because it can be very busy there. But once your number is called, it’s pretty much all! A claim slip will be given to you at the end of the application process.

Passport release
Your new passport will be available approximately 6-8 weeks after date of application.
You have two options:
1. If you cannot personally claim your new passport, you may send a representative with a valid ID, letter of authorization with your signature
2. You may provide a self-addressed prepaid return envelope (If through Canada Post with a signature on delivery sticker) for mail option
Note: The Consulate will NOT assume responsibility for passports/documents that may be lost in the mail.
So, good luck!
